Camp Strawbridge was a memorable long weekend. We started the weekend with a run up Parkman Mt. followed up by Tennis, Soccer, Golf, Acadia Mt hike, Cliff jumping, and a Puddles Adventure in the fog. One of the highlights of the weekend was going out to Puddles in “pea soup” fog with an oversized load of people on the boat. Charlie was nervously asking me what was on the radar. Needless to say it was a challenge. Zippy was voted MVP of the weekend by the commissioner and Goody was voted Most Improved Player. The Bus put in another solid performance but was too physically exhausted to make a run at MVP. Boozy showed a lot of skill off the field. Congrats to Zippy!!
A beautiful summer maine night. We have been enjoying the casco bay. A flight without Cody feels pretty quiet.

What happened to the Codestar?
Liz and I took a trip to her favorite city in France. We met up with some friends and had an amazing dinner on the west bank. We had two days to see monet’s water lilies, Rodin’s bronze sculpture – “the thinker”, the eiffel tower, Hemingway’s Bar, etc.. while riding bikes around the city which was a thrill and somewhat dangerous. We took a train through the country side of france arriving in the Basque region. The Basque people want to be left alone to speak Euskara as their official language. Basques are divided between those who want full independence from Spain and those who want more self-government. The adventure, the food, the culture was amazing.

June 18th-19th weekend. We went back to Dartmouth for Liz’s 10year reunion. We took a canoe called ”coxsuckie” down the connecticut river and circumvented “Tit Comb” Island. Cody went skinny dipping for the first time – she absolutely loved floating down the river. I also found myself in a couple very heated Pong matches where i was out skilled by some Dartmouth experts!!!
This was a week of comebacks. After 15 years since Liz’s last Hurdle race, she dusted off the sneakers and competed in the Maine Medical vs UNUM track meet. Her Pre-race work consisted of jumping a couple old hurdles in the woods of SOPO. She was so sore by the time the race started that she could barely walk. She broke off the blocks slow but her old form shined as she edged out the girls from unum for her first victory. I also competed in my first Triathlon in 8 years. The last time i competed in a Tri, i rented a bike with a basket and a bell in Block Island. I bolted to the front as we ran into the ocean for the swim which shortly resulted in me getting trampled and kicked by every swimmer that swam by me. I nearly sank to the bottom of the ocean that day. Needless to say, the recent triathlon effort went a lot better.
June 4th 2011 – We set out for our first island picnic with 10 adults (three pregnant ladies) and 4 kids (ages 3 months to 19 months). The boat was riding low but we made it out to little Chebeague island around 5pm. Oh, i forgot to mention that Julia was 2 weeks past her due date. The boat ride sent her into labor. I am also the only non-doctor in the group. Everybody else seemed fine with the fact that we were on an island as Julia was going through contractions that were rapidly becoming very uncomfortable. So as the sun sets, we pile on the boat and head back to the mainland to get Julia to the hospital. 3 hours later, the Redding’s have a little boy. It was an extremely memorable Picnic adventure. It is one picnic that might be tough to repeat!!! Congrats!!
